The Windows Section is one of the park’s most scenic areas, and its iconic rock formations are easily accessible via the well-maintained 1-mile (1.6km) loop trail that runs past North Window, South Window, and Turret Arch. It’s an easy walk, even if you take the alternative route and return via the primitive trail, and you’ll likely share this trail with plenty of families. Despite it being very busy, however, we enjoyed this little walk a lot and paused for breaks more frequently than we usually do, marvelling at the remarkable feats of nature.
You’ll have lovely views of the surrounding desert as well, and I believe that sunset, when the soft light paints the rocks a fiery red, would be the best time to go.
Across the car park from The Windows loop, a trail runs to Double Arch and the Parade of Elephants. We didn’t have time for this little detour, unfortunately, but telling by the photos, it’s a very rewarding side trip.
